Why I Became a TakeCare Champion: Inside the TakeCare Champion Journey in India

For many associates, becoming a TakeCare Champion isn’t part of their job description. It’s a choice to step forward, contribute more, and create a culture of care in everyday moments.

If you’re not familiar with it, TakeCare is Marriott’s global wellbeing program, designed to support associates across physical, mental, and financial wellbeing. And our TakeCare Champions around the world are an essential part of how this program comes to life.

Today we travel to India, to understand why associates like Khushi, Sonam, Rajesh and Neha decided to dedicate time and passion in and out of the office to put care first.

For Khushi, a Loyalty and Care Services associate at the CEC in Gurgaon, that meant finding new ways to bring people together. “I wanted to contribute beyond my core responsibilities and play a part in creating a healthier, more connected workplace culture,” she shares.

What started as small efforts, like planning engagement activities and celebrations, quickly grew into something bigger. Through moments of creativity and collaboration, she saw how even a single initiative could help colleagues feel supported, valued, and connected.

For Sonam, the decision was about stepping into leadership. “I wanted to step beyond my comfort zone and take a courageous step toward leadership,” she says.

Becoming a TakeCare Champion gave her the opportunity to build meaningful connections and explore new ways to strengthen culture. It wasn’t just about organizing initiatives, it was about showing up with curiosity, courage, and a willingness to lead in new ways.

Neha saw the role as a path for growth and impact. “It gave me the chance to step beyond my regular role and create positive change within the workplace and the community,” she explains. Through initiatives that support both colleagues and the broader community, she has experienced how small, consistent actions can create a ripple effect, reinforcing a culture of care that extends far beyond one team or moment.

For Rajesh, the motivation was simple, but deeply personal. “Becoming a TakeCare Champion gave me a meaningful platform to support others and make a positive impact,” he says.

In his day‑to‑day work, that shows up in small but intentional ways, checking in with colleagues, encouraging positive habits, and creating an environment where people feel supported and at ease.

As these associates show, becoming a TakeCare Champion is about going beyond what’s expected. It’s about noticing what others need, stepping forward to help, and choosing to create a workplace where care is part of the culture.

And often, it starts with a simple decision to do a little more.
