Do you find joy in helping others thrive? Are you the person who checks in, offers encouragement or looks for small ways to make someone’s day better? You might already be a TakeCare Champion at heart.
TakeCare is Marriott’s approach to supporting the physical, mental, and financial well-being of associates. Across Greater China, four associates are bringing it to life in deeply personal ways, from creating moments of joy and sharing gratitude to helping colleagues build healthier habits. Creating Small Moments of Joy
Eunice, Assistant Manager at the Customer Engagement Center in Guangzhou, decided to become a TakeCare Champion after seeing how small acts of care like listening, encouraging, and supporting others can make associates feel valued and understood, and create a ripple effect of good. “I chose to become a TakeCare Champion because I genuinely believe that well-being and positive energy can transform a workplace,” says Eunice.

Eunice now sees herself as a fairy godmother that works subtly behind the scenes to create “small moments of joy” for everyone at the office. “My mission is not about grand gestures, but about offering consistent, gentle touches of care that make each day feel more relaxed, more supported, and more connected for our associates.”
Turning Gratitude Into Connection
For Joy, Senior Training Supervisor at the Renaissance Shenyang West Hotel, one of her favorite well-being activities she’s been a part of as a TakeCare Champion was helping bring AAW Week to life. With associate sports activities, healthy meals, and gratitude-sharing sessions, the initiative encouraged colleagues to connect and focus on their well-being. “Seeing the high engagement and positive feedback from colleagues made me feel that we truly made a difference,” she says.

One small action that made a big difference was starting a gratitude board in the staff breakroom. Associates began leaving notes of appreciation for one another, which boosted morale and strengthened the feeling of connection and mutual respect.
For her, working at a hotel that puts associates’ well-being first means walking the walk. “It reflects that we don’t just talk about caring for our team—we actively invest in it, making our hotel a truly great place to work.”
Helping Every Associate Feel Supported
Cathy is a Learning and Development Manager and Quality Manager at the W Xi’an, who prioritizes Marriott’s Putting People First value and having an other-centric mindset at work. “I start my day by checking in on my team to see how they’re feeling, both physically and mentally. I share quick well-being tips, remind everyone to stay hydrated, take short breaks, and breathe,” says Cathy.

During a normal shift, she focuses on observing workloads and helps support teammates who seem busy or stressed to keep a healthy pace. “I also promote Marriott’s TakeCare initiatives—by encouraging movement, positive communication, and a safe, supportive environment. At the end of the day, I share positive feedback, recognize small wins, and make sure the team feels appreciated. I help keep energy high while keeping well-being a priority.”
