Name: Laura, Danilo and Luis
Position: Social Media Marketing Coordinator, Banquet and Restaurant Server, and Server
Hotel: Delta Hotels Beausejour
When Laura first arrived in Moncton, New Brunswick, she already knew one thing: she wanted to work at Delta Hotels by Marriott. Her brother Luis had gotten there first, and every time they spoke, he talked about how much he enjoyed working at the hotel.
Now, her other brother, Danilo, has joined them and all three siblings from Colombia are building their careers in the Maritimes together.
Laura currently works as a Social Media Marketing Coordinator, creating content, managing social media, and supporting hotel marketing campaigns. But her Marriott journey started in food and beverage while she was studying in Canada.
“I was working as a banquet server and restaurant server,” she says. “They were helping me with the flexibility because I was a student.” After graduating, Laura applied for a marketing role at the hotel and got the opportunity to grow into the career she had studied for.
“This is a place where you can grow,” she says.

Her brothers, Danilo and Luis, have had similar experiences.
Danilo, a Banquet and Restaurant Server studying hotel management at New Brunswick Community College, says Marriott has helped him balance school, internships, and work while adjusting to a new life in Canada.
“Marriott has helped me a lot with my work life balance and now I’m able to pay all my bills, all my tuition fees on all my different expenses here in the city,” he says.

Luis, a restaurant server, also credits Marriott with helping him establish himself after moving to Canada as an international student.
“Delta opened the door for me,” he says. “I now have organized my finances, I can save money, and pay for my tuition at NBCC College.”
For the Gomez siblings, family played a major role in choosing the Maritimes. “We wanted to be together because if we are family, we can support each other,” Laura says. But it was more than that. They found opportunities and a lifestyle that felt welcoming and balanced.
Besides work, this family is making the most of Canadian life, from bowling nights and exploring local cafés to loving the seafood, nature, and exploring nearby destinations. “Once I arrived here,” says Laura. “I couldn’t believe the natural wonders; the Tidal Bore, Acadi Lumina, Bay of Fundi, Magnetic Hill and the Magnetic Hill Zoo!”

For the Gomez siblings, the move to the Maritimes became more than a change of scenery, it became a chance to build a future. Through flexibility, career development, and opportunities to grow, each of them has been able to create a life and career path that felt possible from the moment they arrived. Proof that sometimes the right opportunity can take you farther than you ever expected.
