Drink or treat of choice: I’ve always had a fondness for sweet drinks, especially those in red. To me, red symbolizes energy, life, and love. Each sip feels like a boost to my spirit. It recharges me, keeps me energized, and helps me approach each task with positivity, ready to spread smiles and share warmth with my associates.
If there’s one word to describe Suttipong, it has to be ‘magnetic’.
In 2014, Suttipong began his Marriott Career as Laundry Attendant at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand, dedicating each day to serving and spreading love through his work. Right from the laundry room, his positive energy illuminates every space he enters and radiates onto every colleague with whom he interacts.
Suttipong, living with hearing and speech disabilities alongside a minor physical impairment, faces unique challenges in communication, learning, and social interactions. Despite these obstacles, he approaches his work with determination and excellence, never allowing his limitations to hinder his performance.
“I pour my heart into every task, finding true joy and an unshakable sense of purpose. Though I work behind the scenes, I know I’m an essential part of hospitality,” he says. “If I can inspire others with my positive energy, then I know I’ve made someone’s day a little brighter.”
Through his 10-year journey with Marriott, Suttipong has found a safe space to proudly embrace his unique traits and showcase his authentic self as a LGBTQ+ ambassador.
Actively participating in Serve360 events and advocating for LGBTQ+ inclusion, Suttipong has become a cornerstone of the hotel’s commitment to diversity. His enthusiasm inspires fellow associates and strengthens the inclusive culture of Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand.

Tell us about your Marriott journey.
I began my career as a laundry attendant at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand, joining the Marriott family nearly 10 years ago. While I’ve remained in the same role, my perspective has grown. I’ve had many opportunities to evolve, value myself, and shine, making me feel like I’m no longer in the shadows. Here, no matter where you are, the light will always find you.
How has Marriott and Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand supported you in making the workplace more accessible and inclusive?
I’ve received incredible support here, both physically and emotionally. It’s a place where I never feel judged nor overwhelmed. My associates cheer me on and encourage me to be my true self. My manager ensures that I get the opportunity to be included in all hotel-wide activities, including TakeCare activities and Road to Give.
During Pride Month, for example, I was honored to be chosen as an ambassador because they know I love transforming myself, much like a beauty pageant contestant. Every compliment — you’re so gorgeous, beautiful, or fabulous — filled my heart with warmth and motivated me to keep going.
I am truly able to express myself freely and I feel genuinely valued. Because of the wholehearted support from my team, I can thrive in a welcoming and inclusive environment, where my contributions are celebrated.
How would you describe your experience as a Marriott associate?
Marriott is a place of endless opportunities; they truly value and celebrate every aspect of an associate’s life. My journey here feels like a path guided by stars, leading me to a place where I feel safe, proud, joyful, and appreciated.
For others, my 10-year journey might seem long, but for me, it feels like it only began yesterday. My hope is to continue with Marriott for as long as possible, and one day, to be honored with a 30-year service award.

Do you feel your experiences with a disability gives you a unique perspective or strength in your role?
Absolutely. Marriott has empowered me to proudly support my family and has transformed my life. My career journey has broadened my mindset, strengthened my skills, and boosted my confidence. I do my best to inspire my team and provide mutual support to them, fostering collaboration and uplifting those around me with my positive attitude.
I dream of continuing my journey with Marriott until retirement!
Describe a moment you felt like a part of a community at Marriott.
There have been countless moments that made me realize I am truly part of the Marriott community. I’ve always felt supported by associates across departments as we come together with a shared purpose.
Events like Pride Month and Associate Appreciation Week remind me of this bond — I love serving others with a big smile, and this spirit of giving always finds its way back to me. My associates recognize and appreciate me, and I carry each of them in my heart as part of my Marriott family.
How would you describe Marriott’s culture?
Marriott’s culture is more than just guidelines — it’s a way to grow, both personally and professionally. Working here builds not only our skills, but also a sense of community where we learn to live and thrive together, ensuring no one is left behind. Here, everyone can be an advisor to one another; and in every corner, assistance and support are always within reach.
Proudest moment of your career so far?
My proudest moment was the day I joined Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand and became part of the Marriott family — a place that values my performance, provides unwavering support, and has shaped me into who I am today. It has strengthened my daily life and filled my journey with the warmth of hospitality.
I’d like to share that I plan to pursue my master’s degree after retirement, with the goal of inspiring others to see that learning has no limits. It only takes a strong heart, and I know you have that too.
No matter who you are, at Marriott, you will always be valued. Don’t be afraid or overly worried — remember, your associate family is here beside you every step of the way.
How can people with disabilities be empowered to make a meaningful impact in the workplace?
I believe that my career story is an example of how equality is a core value in Marriott, with no limits for people with disabilities. Everyone has the ability to contribute to the hotel’s success. With the unique perspectives and strengths of people with disabilities, I am positive that anyone with disabilities can drive a strong impact on our hotel and create an even more positive environment.
Any advice for incoming Marriott associates?
Don’t worry about what’s ahead — just go with the flow and give yourself room to learn.
Remember to take breaks along the way. Rest, relax, and recharge your positive energy; it’s just as important. Good things come from good energy, so embrace it fully. At Marriott, we’ll take care of you every step of the way.
