Drink or treat of choice: a cup of masala tea. Brewed with tulsi, pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and ginger, it is more than a drink. It is a ritual.
Sufaira didn’t build her career by waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect role. She built it by raising her hand and having the courage to say yes. Over the years, that meant moving from Finance into the Executive Office, shifting from Administration into Operations, and eventually stepping into Human Resources.

What’s one moment in your career that changed how you saw yourself?
When I was nominated for the J. Willard Marriott Award of Excellence. I was focused on doing my work with dedication and never expected recognition at such a high level. The nomination made me pause because it helped me see that my consistency, values and daily effort were creating impact beyond what I realized.
It was in that moment that I understood I could inspire through my work. It gave me confidence, a deeper sense of purpose and the belief that I truly belonged in my role with the ability to contribute meaningfully.

Who supported you in that moment?
Leaders and colleagues who believed in me even before I believed fully in myself.
How did that recognition shape the way you lead today?
Being nominated shaped me into a more people-focused and purpose-driven leader. It reminded me that consistency, values and effort do not go unnoticed. Today, I lead with empathy, recognition and accountability. I make a conscious effort to appreciate effort, encourage potential and support others the way I was supported. I believe leadership is reflected in everyday actions, which are often quiet but deeply impactful.

What advice would you give to women looking to accelerate in their careers?
Believe in yourself and the value you bring. Have the confidence to voice your ideas and step into opportunities even when they feel unfamiliar. Growth often begins right outside your comfort zone.
Take ownership of your learning, build strong networks and seek mentors who can challenge and support you. Remember that career journeys do not have to be linear. Be patient with yourself, stay persistent and trust that your potential will unfold with time.

What are your commitments for 2026?
In 2026, I am committed to giving my time and mentorship. Supporting and uplifting others, especially women and young professionals. When we share knowledge, guidance, and encouragement with sincerity, we create stronger teams and more inclusive workplaces. Giving others helps all of us rise together.
