Language Requirements in South Africa
Like in some other African countries such as Malawi, English is our main working language in South Africa, and you’ll usually need to be able to speak and write it to secure a job with us. The job description will state any other languages you need.
Health Insurance in South Africa
Our eligible associates in South Africa can get company-subsidized medical aid for themselves and up to three dependants (terms and conditions apply). You can ask for more information on this during the recruitment process.
Transport to Work in South Africa
Our associates who start their shifts before 6am or after 6pm may be eligible for some transport to and from work.

We provide a Company Provident pension fund for our associates, including company contributions.

Annual Leave in South Africa
South Africa-based employees get a dedicated allowance of leave days to take each year. After working for Marriott in South Africa for a period of four months, associates are eligible for 15 days of annual leave a year. This can increase to 20 days after 12 months of continuous employment.
Sick Leave Policy for Marriott South Africa
Eligible associates can get up to 30 days of paid sick leave within 36 months of employment. If you’ve been unwell and off work for more than two consecutive days, or are away on sick leave more than twice in eight weeks, you’ll need to provide a note from a healthcare professional and liaise with your manager.
South Africa Maternity Leave Policy
Expectant mothers are entitled to six months of maternity leave (usually one month before the birth and five months afterwards) if they have been with the company for a minimum of 10 months. Associates on maternity leave will typically receive 33% of their monthly salary for a total of six months, or until they return to work, whichever is earlier.
Paternity & Adoption Leave Policy
Eligible associates can get 10 consecutive days of unpaid paternity leave starting from the day the child is born. Adoptive parents of a child under two years old can get 10 consecutive days of unpaid leave. We can answer any questions you have at the interview stage.
Relocation Support to South Africa
We don’t generally offer help with relocation for new associates in South Africa.
Salary Payment in South Africa
We meet local minimum wage requirements for all associates.
Pay For Night Shifts & Overtime
Our associates who are on shift after 6pm and before 6am get paid a night allowance and can get help with transport to work. You can find out more about this as you move through the recruitment process.
Reference Checks in South Africa
We ask for references from former employers or academic supervisors before proceeding to a job offer in South Africa.
South Africa Uniform Policy
We provide all uniforms for employees who need them in their roles. Employees in certain positions, such as Sales Leaders, can get a clothing allowance.
