“Creating a vibe for me is really important,” says Danilo Postin Jr., breakfast cook at Delta Burnaby. During the week, he’s preparing dishes for hotel guests; on weekends, he’s behind the DJ booth at weddings, mixing tracks and getting people on the dance floor. 
 
Both cooking and music, Danilo says, have something in common: they bring joy to others. “It fulfills me,” he says. In the kitchen, he often plays his own mixes, infusing his workday with the same energy he brings to his events.

Since joining Marriott two years ago, Danilo has embraced the company’s strong sense of community and the recognition it gives to associates. Every day, he says, is a chance to connect with colleagues, make guests feel welcome, and add his own personal rhythm to the morning service. 

We asked Danilo to share more about his Marriott journey, his love of cooking and music, and what keeps him inspired at work. 

How would you describe your experience as an associate?

I’ve been working for two years now, and it’s been a great experience every single day. I love the sense of community here and how well-known Marriott is as an employer. 

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love cooking because it brings joy to people. I also like that I can bring my personality into the kitchen, sometimes playing my music mixes while I work. 

What do you do outside of work?

I’m a wedding DJ on weekends. If I’m not working at Marriott, I’m usually producing music, creating remixes and mash-ups, and posting content on Instagram for future gigs. I’ve been doing it for a long time, and I really enjoy it. 

What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Marriott in Canada?

Marriott is a great place to work if you want to feel part of a community. There are opportunities to be yourself and bring your own personality to your role.
