How would you describe your experience as a Marriott associate?
My journey with Marriott began two years ago when I started as a Room Attendant. From the beginning, I focused on doing my best—keeping high standards of cleanliness, communicating well with my team, and always being reliable. I saw that role as an important step to prove myself. Through hard work and dedication, I grew into the position of Housekeeping Coordinator. For me, Marriott is a place where your effort is noticed and rewarded, and where you can truly grow.
What is your favorite part of the job?
What I enjoy the most is organizing the workflow and seeing quick results from my efforts. In many ways, my role feels like fishing: I cast out different lines by delegating tasks, giving directions, and setting things in motion. And with time, I see how each “line” brings back a result.

How has Marriott helped you feel like you belong?
At Marriott, I never felt like “just an employee.” I had open conversations with my managers about my goals. I told them I wanted to grow, and they believed in me. They gave me opportunities, like certifying me as a trainer for new Room Attendants because of the high quality of my work. I was honored to be selected as the Star of the Month in February 2024, and I’ve received several “WOW Room” certificates for my work.
What is a moment you felt supported at Marriott?
When I was offered the position of Housekeeping Coordinator, that changed everything for me. It was a moment of real trust. I told my manager, “I won’t let you down.” That opportunity made me feel seen, valued, and capable.
Which Marriott leadership essential do you identify with most?
Be Courageous. When I came to Canada, I had to start my life and career from scratch. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I was ready to work hard and take every opportunity to grow. I wasn’t afraid to start in an entry-level position or to speak up about wanting to learn. Courage is about showing up every day, even when it’s difficult, and being brave enough to keep growing.

What advice would you give someone with a similar background?
Never stop asking questions and let your work speak for you. You can’t just tell people you’re ready for more, you have to show it every single day. When you’re in a new place, it’s easy to feel invisible. Focus on doing your job at the highest level possible and let people see your hard work.
What is something you would like people to take away from your story?
I just want to say thank you for the opportunity to share my story. If even one person reads it and feels a little more hopeful, a little more inspired, then that’s more than enough. We all come from different places, with different challenges, but if we support each other and keep going, amazing things can happen.
