Reshma joined the Guest Environment team at this beautiful 197-room South American hotel, which is situated steps away from St. George’s Cathedral and the Promenade Gardens, in 2023 as a temporary laundry attendant, and “through hard work and dedication,” she soon transitioned into a full-time role.

Before you worked here, what attracted you to Marriott?

I viewed Marriott as a professional organization with high standards and a global reputation for excellence. For Reshma, a laundry attendant at the Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown, her Marriott journey has been nothing short of transformative.  

What is your favorite aspect of working at Marriott?    

I enjoy the role I play within the housekeeping team. The environment is dynamic, and I appreciate the sense of teamwork and support. Leadership within the department also ensures a positive and encouraging workplace.  

What does a typical day at Marriott look like for you?  

A typical day begins with a shift handover, where I gather updates from the previous shift and ensure effective communication within the team. I check in with guests regarding any laundry queries, making sure their needs are met promptly. Staying organized and maintaining clear communication helps me deliver seamless service every day.  

What would you say to jobseekers considering a position here?  

The culture at our hotel is incredibly positive and uplifting. It has helped me grow personally and professionally. For jobseekers, I would say that Marriott provides an exceptional work environment where you can develop and thrive.  

How do you feel you have developed professionally since you started working at Marriott?  

Since joining Marriott, I’ve grown significantly in both skill and mindset. I’ve become more professional and have developed a proactive approach to challenges. I’m now more committed to going above and beyond in every task I undertake. 

During your time in the company, how have you felt supported in and out of work?    

The support at Marriott is exceptional. I know I can approach any manager for assistance, and they are always willing to help, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.   

How have you felt included or a part of a community at Marriott?  

I’ve always felt included and valued as part of the Marriott community. My manager has been a great source of motivation and encouragement, making me feel like an integral part of the team.
