The information below is a general guide to working for us in the UAE, and not a definitive list. Do feel free to ask us if you have any questions about a specific role.
Work Permits & Visas in the UAE
You will need a permit to work for Marriott in the UAE. All foreign nationals are subject to a security background check when applying for a work permit. This permit will then be converted to a residence visa within your first month.
Accommodation in the UAE
We provide hotel accommodation for all non-management roles in the UAE. People in management roles may be offered a Living Out Allowance at the hotel’s discretion.
Important: note that it is illegal to cohabit in the UAE unless you are married and can show the relevant paperwork.
UAE Language Requirements
A good level of written and spoken English is required in customer-facing roles. If you don’t already speak Arabic, we recommend learning some key greetings, phrases and numbers, as these will help you in your role.
If a position requires other languages, these will appear in the job listing.
Health Insurance For Marriott UAE Associates
We provide all associates in the UAE with health insurance as part of their contract. Some of our hotels have a nurse on site who you can consult in the first instance if you feel unwell.
Transport to Work in the United Arab Emirates
Associates who live in our provided hotel accommodation in the UAE can use our bus services to get to and from work. Some roles, such as Sales, may be eligible for a Transportation Allowance.
Pension or End of Service Payments in the UAE
An End of Service Payment is the standard benefit for our UAE staff, except for some of our senior roles. Ask us at interview if you’d like more information about this

Service Charges & Tips in the UAE
All of our UAE-based associates are eligible for tips and service charges from their first day working with us.
Bonuses in the UAE
Some Marriott associates in the United Arab Emirates may be able to earn bonuses. This will depend on their job type and which band their role sits in.
Annual Leave in the UAE
Our annual leave allowance gives our employees the chance to recharge and spend time with the people who matter to them. In the UAE, associates get 30 days a year of annual leave.
Sick Leave Policy in the UAE
Once our UAE-based associates have passed their probationary period, they are eligible for paid sick leave:
- First 15 days: sick leave with full pay
- Next 30 days: sick leave with half pay
- Next 45 days: unpaid sick leave
UAE Maternity Leave Policy
We offer the following maternity leave for our UAE associates who have worked for us for at least one year:
- First 45 days: full pay
- Next 15 days: half pay
If an associate has worked for us for less than a year, they will be entitled to 45 days on half pay.
UAE Paternity Leave Policy
Our paternity leave allowance for UAE-based associates is currently five days.
Relocation Support to the UAE
Some of our job roles may come with relocation support. Talk to us at interview about whether this is relevant to the role you are interested in.
Salary Payment in the United Arab Emirates
Each of our UAE hotels has its own salary and grading system, and we pay on a monthly basis. Internships are paid, unless the listing states otherwise.
Pay for Night Shifts & Overtime
Some of our UAE employees are eligible for overtime, depending on their job role. Overtime worked on regular days is generally paid at 125% of the standard hourly rate. Overtime worked between 10pm and 4am is generally paid at 150% of the regular hourly rate. This higher rate does not apply for night shift work.
Reference Checks in the UAE
We will check references from your previous employers or education providers before offering you a job with us in the UAE. Criminal background checks will also be completed for anyone who applies for a Finance, HR, Safety and Loss prevention, or Leisure Club role.
Medical Screening
A medical check is part of the UAE’s residence visa application process. You may also be required to have a medical check before starting work with us. Speak to us at interview if you would like more information.
On-Duty Meals
Our UAE associates can eat for free in the staff canteen whether they are on shift or not. This covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some hotels may also offer meals in the hotel restaurant.
UAE Uniform Allowance Policy
If you need a uniform for your job, we’ll provide it. Associates in non-uniformed positions can use the in-house laundry service for free.
UAE Ways of Working
At Marriott UAE, we currently offer full-time contracts made up of 48 working hours per week.
Flexible & Remote Working
We don’t currently offer flexible or remote working arrangements in the United Arab Emirates.
Education Assistance at Marriott UAE
Our UAE associates may be eligible for Education Assistance tailored to helping them develop in their roles. This is available in certain locations only, starting at manager-level positions.
