The legendary hotel was voted the best hotel in Mexico City by industry experts like Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards in 2022. Among the voters, many mentioned the outstanding butler service as one of the reasons. Behind that award there’s people like Alfredo, who sees himself as a guest services artisan when it comes to crafting unique experiences for the hotel’s visitors. “Every day on my way to work I imagine the experiences I will create for my guests to connect with them and delight them with the distinctive service of St. Regis,” Alfredo says.
Another highlight for him is getting to know different cultures through the guests he works with. “Knowing them and being able to detect their tastes and preferences to delight them in advance fills me with emotion. Also, being able to be part of their travel experience and make them feel welcome and cared for is extremely rewarding. Seeing their happy and satisfied faces at the end of their stay is what motivates me to continue providing excellent service day in and day out.”

What does a good day at work look like for you?
When I say goodbye to my guests knowing that my interactions with them became unforgettable memories, that is a good day at work.

The moment I step onto the property I feel part of a community that shares the same passion for offering unforgettable experiences. I love working in a place where we are all committed to excellence and where every member of the team feels valued and appreciated. The sense of belonging and collaboration is palpable in every interaction, and that’s what makes my experience at Marriott and St. Regis a truly special one.

What was your St. Regis interview process like? Any tips for candidates who want a role like yours?
It was a challenging and exciting experience from the start. The interview process was very meticulous, which allowed me to showcase my skills and experience in a comprehensive way. My advice for candidates who want a position like mine is to prepare thoroughly, research the brand and show a passion for hospitality. It’s also important to highlight relevant previous experiences and demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills. A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to changing situations are also key aspects that recruiters look for in candidates.
How has Marriott or The St. Regis supported your family?
The St. Regis Mexico City has allowed my family to be part of my professional experience too, through the opportunity to enjoy the hotel’s facilities and services on a regular basis. This has allowed us to share special moments together and enjoy moments of relaxation and rest in an environment of luxury and comfort. Marriott has also provided me with professional development opportunities through leadership and mentoring programs, which have allowed me to grow and advance my career in the hospitality industry. In addition, the constant support of my colleagues and superiors has been fundamental to my development, since I have always relied on their guidance and advice to face challenges and achieve my professional goals.
What advice would you give someone who wants to work for St. Regis?
Passion must be one of the key elements to maintain an attitude of service every day. Knowing that your heart is in what you do will also be a great reflection of your career trajectory.
