This Sales Manager Fell in Love with the St. Regis Hong Kong Culture

Name: Judy L.
Position: Sales Manager
Hotel: The St. Regis Hong Kong
Dream destination: I’d love to see more of China. There are lots of unique and different cities with different types of food, landscape, cultures and experiences. I have only been to a few cities in China but there are so many more waiting to be discovered.
Drink or treat of choice: Bordeaux wine. I look forward to my career with Marriott being like Bordeaux wine, the longer it stays, the better it tastes.

In the heart of Wan Chai district, The St. Regis Hong Kong prides itself on being a “curated mansion” that blends exquisite architecture, diverse cultures and the timeless elegance that characterizes the brand — oh, and a two-Michelin star restaurant.

At this St. Regis, as in every brand and hotel within Marriott, there’s a sales department whose mission is essentially to bring a wide range of guests to it, and it’s conformed by people like Judy, a Sales Manager. Judy’s role is to strengthens the relationships with current customers, organize events, promotes the hotel’s reputation in the industry, and build brand awareness, which, when you work with a historic brand like St. Regis, can be a true pleasure.

What does a good day at work look like for you?

A good day at work starts with a nice cup of coffee and an energetic briefing with our team members. After that, I can make a positive impact on our guests’ experience and the way they look at the hospitality industry. I love interacting with guests and making sure they have a memorable stay with us. It’s fulfilling to see their satisfaction when they leave. I also enjoy taking on new challenges, learning new things, working with my colleagues to solve any problems that arise, and locating new business opportunities that could bring revenue to the hotel.

What is your favorite part of working at Marriott?

Getting to know people from other properties within Marriott around the world is the best thing. Marriott has many opportunities for us to meet with other property staff through events, training, and meetings. They offer different opportunities in many areas such as cross-property training and brand culture.

How would you describe Marriott’s culture?

The “put people first” value and strong relationships with other Marriott properties are some of the best aspects of the Marriott culture. As a world-leading hotel management company, we have the great advantage of having the highest number of properties in the world, and that creates a great opportunity for working with different people not just from your own property but also with others.

Marriott promotes teamwork and relationships by creating events and activities to communicate, connect, and collaborate. Also, the company’s commitment to providing excellent service is a top priority. We strive to cultivate a culture of inclusion, respect, and engagement while providing exceptional service to our guests.
