At Marriott, we’re all about recognition. In fact, it’s one of the things our associates love most about working here. From our esteemed, company-wide Awards of Excellence to annual Associate Appreciation Week (AKA, AAW) where we thank and celebrate our associates through week-long events to our daily team stand ups at our global hotels, our people consistently praise the overarching culture of support and appreciation at Marriott.
In that spirit, it’s time to celebrate our latest achievement: Marriott has been named one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For®, an honor we’ve upheld since the list’s inception over a quarter century ago. And this year, we placed in the top 10.

What’s even more exciting, this honor comes amid Marriott’s launch of our new people brand, “Be.” This global brand is the symbol of the associate experience, and it focuses on three distinct pillars: begin, belong, become. It showcases that here at Marriott, you can do your best work, shape your career, belong to an amazing global team, and become the best version of you.
“Being recognized as a Fortune 100 Best Company for over twenty-five years reflects our commitment to our associates,” said Ty Breland, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “Be will help us showcase that commitment as we recognize the whole person, build trust, respect, opportunity, equity, and inclusion and provide the tools and opportunities to help our associates grow.”
As global travel continues to remain strong, Marriott added over 200,000 associates around the world in the past year. The company continues to invest in and grow its workforce in 2023 by offering competitive benefits, flexible scheduling, an increased retirement savings plan match, discounted travel, and more.
“For over 95 years, Marriott has been committed to creating a culture of putting people first,” said Anthony Capuano, President and Chief Executive Officer. “As we focus on strengthening our culture, expanding our global workforce, and positioning the company for continued growth, we are excited to build on our people-first culture with Be. We are proud to be an employer of choice for hundreds of thousands of associates who wear the Marriott name badge around the world. Be will help us fulfill our purpose of connecting people through the power of travel by empowering and supporting our associates.”
In addition to cracking the top 10 on Fortune’s list, Marriott has also received a number of prestigious accolades just this year.
In March, Newsweek identified Marriott as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity in 2023. The basis of Newsweek’s scoring included interviews with HR pros and an independent study that yielded more than 350,000 company reviews.
In our own hometown, Marriott’s brand-new global headquarters was named Bethesda Magazine’s Best New Office We Want to Work At as part of the Best of Bethesda 2023 awards in the January-February 2023 issue. The new HQ campus, which includes both the 21-story, 785,000-square-foot office building (complete with childcare, fitness center, collaboration spaces, test kitchen, eateries and more) and the new Marriott HQ hotel next door, opened in the summer of 2022 and sits in the middle of downtown Bethesda, Maryland — a quick 25-minute Metro ride from our nation’s capital.
In 2022, the company was recognized as a top employer many times over, including:
- America’s Best Large Employers, Forbes
- The Best Employers for Diversity, Forbes
- The Best Employers for New Graduates, Forbes
